How Do We Talk About Racism.

Civil Connections has explored the challenges of addressing racism with children and young adults through the projects Cultural Connections and Fælles mod Racisme.

The afternoon will begin with a presentation of project findings and recommendations for effective practices, followed by a talk and workshop on "Pedagogy of Discomfort" led by Iram Khawaja. She will guide participants through strategies for discussing racism, inequity, and privileges with children and youth in professional settings.

About the host:Civil Connections is a small NGO working with equity and agency on local and global scale. In Denmark the work especially targets racism, and in the last years Civil Connections has actively worked towards creating tools and knowledge for professionals and parents on how to engage in the difficult talks.About the guest speaker:Iram
Khawaja is a psychologist, with a PhD in social psychology and is
currently associate professor in Educational Psychology. She has over 20
years of experience with a specialized focus on developing a vocabulary
to address the necessary conversations on racialized difference,
inequity, privilege and power.
